Rajini’s invitation to the Hollywood star

There are reports that Rajinikanth has invited the popular Hollywood star Richard Gere for his youngest daughter Soundarya’s wedding. The Superstar has already invited the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha, film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi and Mammooty. Apart from these, several other politicians and celebrities are expected to grace the marriage which is scheduled to be held at the Raja Muthiah Hall in Chennai on September 3rd.

Soundarya Rajinikanth will tie the knot with industrialist Ashwin Kumar.

Rahman’s CWG song today

After a few changes in the tune and the lyrics, the much awaited and much delayed anthem of the Commonwealth Games, composed by Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman, is ready for release today.

According to a statement by the Organising Committee of the Games, the music maestro will be performing the whole song at the first hearing on Saturday. Rahman has inserted the word ‘India’ a few more times in the lyrics and made the tempo peppier, sources said.

It may be recalled Rahman had earlier crooned the opening lines of the song at an event in New Delhi, saying that the song still needed some work before he could unveil it. “When you hear the song you feel like India is calling you. I want the crowd to sing along,” he said.

He added: “We have put in a lot of hard work and we are all very excited to turn it into a memorable experience. I am curious to know how older, intelligent people, who have years of wisdom, will react to it. The song is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of this great nation.”

Sanikizhamai Sayangalam 5 Mani is a movie which is produced by SPS Media Works. The production company's first venture was Madurai to Theni Vazhi Andipatti which was directed by Radhi Bala. Ravi Bharathi, who has penned the story and dialogues, will make his debut as the director of Sanikizhamai Sayangalam 5 Mani. SPS Guhan is wielding the camera for this film.

If Madurai to Theni Vazhi Andipatti, was shot using a digital camera, Sanikizhamai Sayangalam 5 Mani has gone one step further and has created a new record. This is the first time a HD SLR camera has been used for a movie. This feat has been entered into the Limca Book of Records. Way to go!

Harris Jayaraj is ready...

Harris Jayaraj, who mesmerized us with Ayan and Aadhavan last year, is back again after a gap of nearly one year. Director K.V. Anand has finished shooting for his next movie 'Ko' which is in the post production stages. Starring Jiiva and Karthika, this movie will be in the lines of his previous movies. It is rumored that Harris Jayaraj has already finished scoring the music for Ko and is waiting for the post-production stages to complete the re-recording,

It is also known that one of the song numbers has been sung by Harris' favorite singer Bombay Jayashree. Harris and Bombay Jayashree have teamed up to deliver chartbusters starting from the days of Minnalae. We wish the duo, along with K.V. Anand, come out with another great album soon.

Bharathiraja waiting for Vikram

Iyakunar Imayam Bharathiraja was last seen in directorial action for ‘Bommalattam’. It was a multi starrer with Arjun and Nana Patekar in lead roles. ‘Bommalattam’ got a lot of critical acclaim. Later Bharathiraja was seen as a big time actor in ‘Rettaichuzzi’ this year. Now the legend is back at what he does best.

Bharathiraja is all ready to wield the megaphone for a heartfelt rural epic. The film is tentatively titled ‘Appan Aatha’. It is a story of three brothers and a leading wise man. Cheran, Ameer and Seeman have been finalised to play the brothers and for the other lead role Bharathiraja has spoken to Cheeyan Vikram.

Bharathiraja is hopeful that Vikram will accept the offer. But just in case if Vikram doesn’t show serious interest Bharathiraja has decided to play the role himself.

Another new thing in the film is that Harris Jayaraj has been signed to score the music for this hard core village subject. This will be the first time Harris Jayaraj is working on a rural film. Interestingly Bharathiraja had made even AR Rahman to score for his village film ‘Kizhakku Cheemaiyile’ years ago.

Suriya strikes a close connection with director Rajesh. It is blatantly illustrious that Suriya launched the music of Rajesh’s debut directorial ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’. And now, the filmmaker will again have Suriya launching the audio of his next film ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’.

Suriya and Harris Jayaraj have together swayed delivering successful films together from the days of ‘Kaakha Kaakha’, ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, ‘Ayan’ and ‘Aadhavan’. In fact, their upcoming movie ‘7 AUM ARIVU’ with A.R. Murugadoss has already raised everyone’s expectations on higher levels. Since, Udhayanidhi Stalin haps to be the producer for both the films, the duo will be present to release the music of BEB.

The audio launch will be held on this Friday (August 27) at Satyam Cinemas at 6.30 p.m.
The film is produced by Vasan Visual Ventures and was recently acquired by Aarya’s The Show People and Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored music to the lyrical lines of Na. Muthukumar and already the song ‘Yaarendru Kettaen’ in teasers has grabbed everyone’s attention.

Jeeva’s Ko is now completed reliesh For Diwali

Jeeva’s career graph is going through a rapid phase of success as his previous three films – ‘Thennavattu’, ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ and ‘Kacheri Arambam’. His next film ‘Ko’ is now completed with a song left to be shot.

The entire crew has now flown down to Mumbai for some patch-up works and K.V. Anand is planning to shoot the song in abroad.

The film is expected to be a political thriller that revolves around a photo journalist Ashwin (Jeeva) and his clashes with group of politicians. Ajmal is portrayed as a grey-shaded character while yesteryear actress Radha’s daughter Karthika and Piyaa perform the female lead characters.

Harris Jayaraj has scored music and Richard Nathan handles cinematography.

Prakash Raj weds Pony Verma in Punjabi style‎

Actor Prakash Raj tied the knot with choreographer Pony Verma on August 24th, 2010 at Hotel Sahara Star, Vile Parle, in Mumbai.

The wedding took place in Punjabi style, attended by family members and close friends of the two.
Earlier in 2009 Prakash Raj divorced his first wife Lalita Kumari.

Endhiran beats James Bond

Shankar's magnum-opus Endhiran has already broken many records. If, for a first, the music was launched in Malaysia, the songs of Endhiran were top-sellers in Apple's iStore in two days' time. Being the costliest Indian movie ever, Endhiran now has another feather in his cap. The song "Kilimanjaro" from the Endhiran album is a big hit. Sung by Javed Ali and Chinmayee, this song has been shot in the Machu Pichu mountain range. Situated in Peru, this Lost land of the Incas is one of the wonders of the world.

Now if you are wondering what is the connection with James Bond, read along. Machu Pichu is a UNESCO World heritage site and attracts a lot of tourists from around the world. A request to shoot the James Bond movie 'Quantum of Solace' was turned down, a couple of years back, as the place is rarely used for shooting. Now aren't we proud that Endhiran has been shot in the same place where no commercial film has ever been filmed before? That’s how you beat James Bond round and square!
