Rahman likes ‘Why this kolaveri’
The latest in the list of celebrities who are impressed with ‘Why this kolaveri di…’, written and penned by Dhanush for his forthcoming film ’3′, is none other than Oscar-Grammy winner A.R Rahman.
Says Anirudh, the music composer, who is making waves right from the day one the single number was released, “I heard from someone that AR Rahman has said he likes the song. That’s really big news for me.”
Some of the big guns who are already appreciative of the song are Superstar Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan and industrialist Anand Mahindra. Top media houses all over the world carried features on the song.
Meanwhile, arrangements are on for the audio launch of ’3′, which is set to take place in Chennai soon. Says Dhanush, “The remaining songs from the movie will be totally different from Kolaveri… Anirudh has done a very good job.”

Amala joins Twitter to beat the fakes
Amala Paul is the latest from Kollywood to join social networking site – Twitter.
The actress reportedly created a profile on Twitter, as soon as she came across few fake profiles in her name.
There were four fakes profiles operating under her name dishing out various comments on world matters which she could not even fathom. To stop the menace of fake profiles, Amala was forced to join the social networking site.

Speaking to US, Amala said: “The fake was interacting with my fans and friends and using various quotes of mine from old interviews. Dhanush to direct the Bachchans in his Bollywood debut?
Speculations are rife that Dhanush has approached Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan to feature in his Bollywood film. It comes as no surprise because there are many reasons to believe that the Tamil actor would work with the Bachchans.
It may be recalled that Amitabh Bachchan was the first Bollywood star to speak high about ‘Kolaveri di’ track and Abhishek Bachchan followed his father’s footpath by signing praises about the soup song. Rumour mills are connecting this with Dhanush’s Bollywood movie and his meeting with the Bachchans have added fuel to the growing speculations about their collaboration for the proposed project.
However, Dhanush’s Bollywood movie is expected to take off in mid-2012.
Trisha too expensive for Chennai Super Kings!
It is known that Trisha was in talks with the bosses of Chennai Super Kings and the talks were on till recently. Unfortunately, she has turned down the offer because the bosses of the CSK were not ready to pay a whopping amount demanded by her to be the brand ambassador of the team. It is believed that the Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa actress, who gets paid heavily for advertisements, was not happy with the package.
Adding to that commercials does not take much of her time, whereas the current offer would have consumed a lot of her time. Thus, Trisha rejected the offer. However, the actress has denied that she opted out due to financial reasons. She claims that her lack of dates made her to drop the offer.
Actor Vivek is all set to turn filmmaker

Priyamani has a narrow escape
Priyamani was on her way to the sets of her Kannada film, Anna Bond starring Puneet Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, and Nidhi Subbaiah when she met with an accident. It happened near Muthathi forest, Karnataka. The vehicle sustained serious damage but fortunately Priyamani escaped unhurt.
The actress reported on the sets like a true professional despite everything as she did not want to make it inconvenient for anyone. Her fans are relieved that she is safe and are proud of her for the way she handled herself during the crisis.
AR Rahman to provide music for Kochadaiyaan
The Oscar winning composer has not signed a single Tamil film album in 2011,as he is busy with his international assignments.
Soundarya Rajinikanth who is directing the film had tweeted – “ Someone I’ve always looked up to…admire, adore, love respect and am in awe of , Music-the one and only AR Rahman.”
Remember, Rahman-Rajinikanth combination has always struck gold in films like Padayappa, Sivaji and recently Enthiran?
The combo is once again sure to rock with Kochadaiyaan.
G.V. Prakash to compose 7 up jingle
G.V. Prakash is expected join STR aka Simbu in the 7 Up ad campaign. The young musician is likely to compose an energetic jingle fo the ad. Interestingly in Andhra Pradesh Allu Arjun is the brand ambassador for the same drink. Simbu is currently in Hyderabad shooting for the ad, which is likely to aired soon.
G.V. Prakash’s forthcoming projects include Karthi’s Saguni, Atharva-Amala Paul starrer Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, Bharathiraaja’s Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum, Vikram’s Karikalan and director Vijay’s Thaandavam in Tamil. Kolaveri Di has received over 17 million hits on YouTube till now and Abhishek Bachchan terms it as one of the greatest hits of the year.
‘I think it’s outstanding and I think it’s wonderful because it has been made by two very dear friends of mine, Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya. I think it’s a fantastic song.’

No Hindi films for time being, says Trisha
In a case of ‘sour grapes’, Trisha has said that she may not star in Hindi films in future as she found the tastes of ‘Bollywood audiences’ to be very different from their Tamil counterparts. She has the solitary film Samaran opposite Vishal in Tamil. Even Samaran has the curvaceous Sunaina as the other heroine in the film. It’s notable that Trisha’s last few films in Tamil and Telugu have always had one or more heroines in it.
Trisha’s Khatta Meetha opposite Akshay Kumar nosedived at the box-office and put paid to her hopes of making it big in Bollywood. Realizing that it would be for her own good to concentrate mainly in Tamil and Telugu movies, Trisha now finds herself in a comfort zone. She has said that contrary to reports appearing in some sections of the press, she wasn’t contemplating returning to modelling which was her profession prior to joining films.
“I don’t intend to star in Hindi movies any more. I don’t regret the fact that I wasn’t offered the heroine’s role in the Hindi version of Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya. I have found that Hindi films are a complete genre and I don’t think their tastes are identical with the tastes and expectations of Tamil or Telugu audiences. As such, I feel comfortable here,” says Trisha.

Mambattiyan releasing on December 16
Actor-director-producer Thiyagarajan has informed that his forthcoming directorial Mambattiyan with Prashanth in the lead will release on December 16. The makers inform that they are planning to release Mambattiyan in as many screens as possible. The promotion activities of the film will begin shortly.
Mambattiyan is the remake of Thiyagarajan’s yesteryear hit ‘Malayur Mambattiyan’s and casts Meera Jasmine, Vadivelu and Mumaith Khan in other main roles. Prashanth informs that he has worked hard for the film as they are high expectations on the movie since it’s the remake of a hit film ‘Malayur Mambattiyan.
Mambattiyan has music by Thaman and lyrics by Na Muthukumar and Annamalai.
Sneha becomes Superstar’s sister
Sneha who has long been waiting for a good role has finally grabbed her dream come oppurtunity it seems.

Nanban audio launch on December 14
As reported earlier, Nanban is the remake of Bollywood blockbuster hit 3 Idiots starring Aamir, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in the leads. There is a buzz that Aamir Khan and director Raju Hirani might grace the audio launch.
Actors Jeeva and Srikanth had stepped into the shoes of Madhavan and Sharman Joshi for the Tamil version. Ileana played the leading lady as Vijay’s love interest in the movie. Harris Jayraj scored the tunes.
Nanban is scheduled for a grand release on 14th January, on the eve of Pongal.
Rajapattai title changed to Veedinthe
The dubbed Telugu version of Rajapattai is titled as ‘Veedinthe’. The Telugu title announcement and promotions will be made in Hyderabad today. For this Vikram, Deeksha Seth, director Suseenthiran, Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja are present at the event.
The audio launch is expected to take place on Dec 9 and the film will see a December end release.
Venkat Prabhu to direct Suriya?
“I have signed with Studio Green! I am working on a couple of scripts, will soon update about which one I am starting and the cast,” informed Venkat Prabhu.
There is abuzz that since its Studio Green production partly owned by Suriya, he might play the lead in the film and it would be a bilingual release in Tamil and Telugu. The yet-to-be titled film will be action cum comedy entertainer. Yuvan Shankar Raja will score the tunes.
‘Irandam Ulagam’ ready to roll

Osthi is ready to rock on Dec 8
Finally Simbu’s Osthi will be released on Dec 8 it seems. After the recent problems arised with Sun Pictures aqcuiring the Satellite rights, now seems that things got settled down.
Yesterday the Audio launch of Simbu’s Osthi was showcased in Sun tv, where celebrities including Vijay, Jai, Premgi Amaran, Director Bhagiyaraj, T Rajendar, Nassar, legendary Poet Vaali and many others have attended it.
Also the speech given by TR aka T Rajendra was the highlight, he gave a impressive stage performance in his own style and made the whole audience laugh to the core.
Dance shows from the film’s songs and Video clips from Osthi where shown in between the audio launch. Finally the Audio cd was released by Vijay and the firs copy was given to poet Vaali.
Mid December get ready for 3 audio launch
The Kolaveri Di single album from Aishwarya Dhanush’s debut film 3 has taken the country by storm.
Dhanush and music director Anirudh are currently promoting the film in Mumbai.
Now Dhanush has tweeted – “ Mid December get ready for 3 audio launch. So guys , whom do you think should release the audio ?
How do u think the audio function should happen?”
The mixing work for rest of the 3 album is also going on in a Mumbai studio, and it looks like there will be a big audio launch for the film.
Anushka’s cameo appearance in Saguni
Actress Anushka will make a cameo appearance in Karthi’s Saguni, directed by a debutant Shankar Dayal, one-time assistant to director Ezhil. The actress recently shot the movie. It was a one day shoot, which Anushka did for free as a friendly gesture. Interestingly, Saguni is Karthi’s first political entertainer and is touted to be a complete action flick. Pranitha will play the female lead and Radikaa Sarathkumar will be seen on the big screen after a long time. Reportedly the film narrates the life of a young village graduate who comes to Chennai for job. A sudden turn of events makes him to enter politics.
At times when heroes mouth punch dialogues and bash the goons single handedly, here comes Karthi’s Saguni which doesn’t have any villains. “Karthi’s role is a tricky one, which has grey shades to it but eventually, everything he does benefits the common man,” the director was quoted saying.
Director Shankar Dayal has recently revealed that unlike other political flicks, leading lady Pranitha will have equal importance in the film. He also said that the heroine is part of the script and will not have a blink-and-miss appearance. Now the latest buzz is that Karthi’s character in Saguni will have shades of Nira Radia (from the 2G scam) but in a positive way. The film is likely to grace theatres for Pongal 2012.
Vettai single from December 12
The single Paparappa from Linguswamy’s Vettai will hit the stands from December 12th. Paparappa is crooned by Yuvan Shankar Raja himself which is touted to be the next big thing. Vettai’s music will be produced under UTV Music, a unit of UTV Motion Pictures which is jointly producing this movie along with Linguswamy’s Thirupathi brothers. This audio will be special for Yuvan Shankar Raja fans since it will have their idol on a public event after the sad dismissal of his mother.Vettai is a multistarrer that has Madhavan,Arya,Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul.
Tamil industry mourns Dev Anand’s death
Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan were among those who condoles the death of evergreen Bollywood actor Dev Anand, who dies in London on Sunday. He was 88.
saluting the late actor, Rajinikanth, his wife Latha Rajinikanth, daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya and sons-in-law Dhanush and Ashwin in a statement here said ‘Devanandji, we had the proud privilege of taking your blessings, shaking hands and giving you a hug as we humbly offered The Legend award two-years ago. All of us here, who were part of that evening, are so moved today’.
‘We salute your zest for life and your spirited energy for work. You will always stay in our hearts. We love you so much and we will miss you..’, the statement said.
Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa described him as an institution by himself whose footprints on Indian cinema were indelible.
In a condolence message, Jayalalithaa, herself a reputed actor of yesteryears, expressed shock and grief over the death of 88-year-old Dev Anand, who was considered the ever-green hero of Indian cinema.
On his part, Kamal Hassan said dev Anand was a versatile performer, oozing with energy. He was also a great producer par excellence, he added.
Vijay's THUPPAKI on floors today, December 5th
Kalaipuli S Thanu who is producing the Vijay starrer Thupakki has registered the title which indicates that the AR Murugadoss directed film is confirmed of this name. Also, the director has roped in National Award winner Sreekar Prasad for editing and Thotta Dharani for art direction.
Santosh Sivan is the director of photography, it has been announced already. The film will go on floors today, December 5th, in Mumbai, say sources. Vijay is paired up with Kajal Agarwal and there are a lot of expectations building around this film as it has some very popular names in the film industry in its crew.
A R Rahman out of Gautham Menon’s project
A R Rahman busy with his prior commitments, it looks unlikely that he would compose music for Gautham Menon’s Nee Thanae En Ponvasantham.
A few weeks ago Gautham menon had stated that Rahman would be scoring music. Rahman is busy with his other commitments and unlikely to find time for this one, a source says.

AR Rahman does it for Rajini
AR Rahman has agreed to do the music for Rajini’s next film, Kochadiyaan. The ace musician has a jam – packed schedule and has become increasingly selective about the projects he takes up as he has many commitments to honor on foreign shores.
ARR however simply could not decline Kochadaiyaan as he is a self – confessed Rajini fan and he accepted. The genius composer said that he is happy to be a part of another Rajini film. He did the music for Sivaji and the songs became a massive hit. It is believed that he will do the same for Kochadiyaan.
Vikram in love with Dhanush
