Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan were among those who condoles the death of evergreen Bollywood actor Dev Anand, who dies in London on Sunday. He was 88.
saluting the late actor, Rajinikanth, his wife Latha Rajinikanth, daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya and sons-in-law Dhanush and Ashwin in a statement here said ‘Devanandji, we had the proud privilege of taking your blessings, shaking hands and giving you a hug as we humbly offered The Legend award two-years ago. All of us here, who were part of that evening, are so moved today’.
‘We salute your zest for life and your spirited energy for work. You will always stay in our hearts. We love you so much and we will miss you..’, the statement said.
Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa described him as an institution by himself whose footprints on Indian cinema were indelible.
In a condolence message, Jayalalithaa, herself a reputed actor of yesteryears, expressed shock and grief over the death of 88-year-old Dev Anand, who was considered the ever-green hero of Indian cinema.
On his part, Kamal Hassan said dev Anand was a versatile performer, oozing with energy. He was also a great producer par excellence, he added.
