Marina actor dead in road accident
In a tragic road accident that took place yesterday near the Nochikuppam Slum tenement, 16-year-old Sathish Kumar died. He was seen as a sundal vendor in Marina, directed by Pandiraj.
Sathish was riding a bicycle when the mishap occurred and he was dead on the spot after the lorry ran over his head.
Sathish was survived by his father, mother and a sister and brother. His father is a coolie while his mother is a maid servant. Sathish worked as a mechanic.
Roja out of Bharathiraja's film
Veteran director Bharathiraja had signed up Roja to play heroine Karthika’s mother in Anna Kodiyum Kodi Veeranum. The shooting of this film is fast progressing and has almost reached the final stages when Roja walked out of the project.
Sources say that Roja was not given basic facilities such as caravan and demanding such conveniences, she walked out of the project. The director immediately replaced her with Renuka and began shooting the portions, say sources close to the film unit.
Amala Paul eager to grab Vijay's film
Ilayathalapathy Vijay and director AL Vijay are all set to team up for their next venture together. This film is expected to start rolling from November onwards but the heroine is yet to be finalized.
There are a number of leading ladies in Kollywood evincing keen interest on this project as they would get to pair up with Vijay. One among the heroines is Amala Paul, who enjoys a close rapport with director AL Vijay. Since Amala Paul had acted under AL Vijay’s direction already she is confident that this role would be hers.

Settai trailer has got a massive response from fun-loving fans. The video-clipping was released recently and it has got a good number of hits on YouTube.
In fact, the trailer of Settai, which was released on September 1, has recorded 445,321 views so far and it is expected to cross the five lakh mark by today. The interesting part of the story is that it fetched 279,139 lakh hits in just 48 hours after its release.
In the recent times, Gautham Menon's Neethaane En Ponvasantham fetched a record-breaking hits on YouTube. It got around 5.5 lakh views, thereby breaking the record of Ajith Kumar's Billa 2 teaser, which had fetched around 5.15 lakh views in two days.
However, Settai starring Arya, Hansika Motwani, Santhanam, Anjali, Premji Amaren, Nassar and others in the cast, is a remake of Bollywood movie Delhi Belly but unlike the Hindi movie, this movie is targeted at the family audience by cutting of all the adult dialogues in the movie.

Trisha gets engaged to Rana
Rumors are spreading like wildfire that Trisha and Rana Dagubbati are engaged. Sources say that the two got engaged in a very private ceremony in Hyderabad in which only a very few family and friends were present.
Trisha, as usual, has denied it as rumors. The actress said that she is Rana’s best buddy but this does not mean that they will get married. Trisha pointed out that if her wedding was to be announced, she would do it herself and appealed to the media and fans not to believe in rumors.

For one such endorsement with a cell phone company, she would be sharing the screen space for a TV commercial with happening Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. Kohli had recently also acted in a TV commercial directed by Prabhu Deva for a sports shoe brand.
This new TV commercial featuring Tamannah and Virat would be directed by prominent Telugu director Trivikram Srinivas.
Amala’s lucky streak continues!
She’s upped the ante as far as acting is concerned, with Mynaa, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi and now her Malayalam film Run Baby Run which is the Onam winner at Kerala box-office.
Amala has surprised everyone with her range and love for experimenting with her roles.
She was seen in a completely different avataar in Run Baby Run as a young, ambitious, feisty Televison journalist who will go to any extreme to get an “exclusive news”!
Her on-screen chemistry with Mohanlal was rocking and the sensuous number Aattumanal payayil… picturised on the pair has become one of the chartbusters.
“Thanks to my career, I have met a lot of television reporters and anchors. So I didn’t have to meet any one specific for my characterisation in the film. Joshiy sir just wanted me to be like one of them in the film and he helped me improvise a lot on the sets” she said.
And on Sunday evening, she was given a rousing welcome by hundreds of Mohanlal fans at Saritha theatre in Kochi where she watched the film, addressed the gathering and even cut a cake.
One thing is sure that Amala has the masses eating out of her hands!
Suriya’s Ayan remake rights sold to TIPS
AVM Studios has sold out the Hindi remake rights of Ayan, the hit combo KV Anand, Suriya and Harria Jayraj, who are back with Maatran. Bollywood top notch producers TIPS has bought the remake rights for a whooping cost of Rs.1.5cr.
Tamanna has played the female lead for Suriya in Ayan which was released in 2009. Ayan is making a huge some of money for its makers even today after 3 years of its release reportedly. Industry people wonder, why TIPS bought Hindi remake rights of Ayan for huge amounts of Rs.1.5cr reportedly, even when the Hindi dubbed version of the movie is being telecasted for many times in channels.
Sun Pictures, who have bought the distribution rights of Ayan has banked well, as the film turned out to be a highest grosser of the year 2009. King of south remakes Prabhu Deva is touted to be directing this Ayan remake. While the complete cast and crew details are expected to be unveiled once everyone are signed…

A new record for Tamil cinema
The Tamil film industry seems to be growing at a hectic pace indeed. The number of films being produced and released has been increasing steadily.
And now, in the 100th year of cinema in India, looks like a record of sorts has been created in Kollywood.
According to film historian Film News Anandan who has been tracking the Tamil industry for decades, “The month of August has seen the highest number of releases in Tamil ever since Tamil films began to be made in1931. There were 24 releases in Tamil, excluding the 6 dubbed films that were released. This is an all-time record for Tamil cinema.”
This is no doubt good news for the industry and the thousands of people who are dependent on it apart from the millions of viewers across the globe.
But the sad part is that barring one or two films none made money at the box-office. The 24 films may have cost nearly Rs 100 crore, but losses are huge.
It also calls for some kind of regulation in film releases, otherwise the novelty of films will evaporate.
Vishal injured... advised complete rest
Vishal was injured on his head while filming for Madha Gaja Raja. The star was deeply involved in a fight sequence when he lost balance and fell hurting his head. He was rushed to the Apollo Hospitals immediately and the doctors advised complete rest for another week or so.
Actress Shriya Reddy and Vishal’s sister-in-law said that he is doing fine now but will take part in the shooting only after the doctors give him the go ahead.
Vikram's Thaandavam begins on September 28th
Vikram’s Thaandavam will hit the silver screens on September 28th. Finally, the star’s fans will get to see him on the big screens after a long wait! Thaandavam is a very different attempt from AL Vijay as it is a story inspired from the visually impaired Daniel Kitsch who uses echo location technique to get things done.
Daniel Kitsch will be in town on September 12th and will meet the press to share his experience in working with Vikram and AL Vijay.

Karthika wants to get out of Bharathiraja's film
Karthika Nair cannot take in the rigors of hard work at the Anna Kodiyum Kodi Veeranum shooting spot. Apparently, director Bharathiraja is shooting in dry areas and Karthika could not withstand the extreme heat conditions.
Sources say that Karthika is eager to wrap up the shooting as fast as she can and move over other projects but Bharathiraja’s slow pace is keeping the actress bound to the project.
Karthika’s mother Radha is also advising her daughter to stay calm and committed until the shooting is completed.
Actor Thilakan in coma... condition critical
Character artiste and villain, Thilakan, is still at the ICU in a private hospital in Kerala undergoing treatment for heart problems. Sources say that Thilakan is still in coma and the doctors are trying to revive him. The actor is on the ventilator and his family is at the hospital keeping a vigil on his health.
Thilakan is one of the well-known character artistes and villain in the south Indian film industry. Though he was seen in Malayalam films mainly, Thilakan ensured that he did some good films in Tamil as well in regular intervals.
