Trisha refuses to get photographed by fans

Of late, actress Trisha doesn’t permit the luxury to her fans to get photographed with her. In the past, the actress had been in and out of many controversies including an (in)famous bathing sequence which purportedly featured the actress and did rounds via MMS. Trisha stoutly denied that it was she who was in the said video and has become very cautious ever since when it comes to getting clicked.

Reports say that the actress, who recently had the 40th film of her career in Mankatha releasing and running successfully, puts many pre-conditions to meeting her fans who come from far-off places to meet her. These fans invariably want to get themselves photographed with her to show it to their friends, relatives and others as a proof of their audience with the actress.

The first word Trisha utters to her fans who come to meet her is that they shouldn’t click her photograph on their mobile phones. This puts off the fans who undergo great hurdles and difficulties and finally win a chance to meet her. She also refuses to sign autograph in currency notes but doesn’t even oblige their request for autographs on a small piece of paper or blank sheet.

This has obviously not gone down too well with some of her ardent fans who had met her recently. They feel that while Trisha is obviously apprehensive of getting photographed which is somewhat justified in view of the MMS controversy, her refusal to sign autographs for the fans is totally unjustified.

7am Arivu beats Velayutham at Australian box office

Surya’s 7am Arivu might have shared equal honours with Velayudham at the UK Box Office but it has an edge over Vijay starrer Tamil movie at the Australian Box Office. Indeed, Surya’s scientific fiction has beaten the Gilli star’s superhero flick by a decent margin.

Traders say that 7aam Arivu has raked in Aus. $1,51,029 [approx. Rs 77 lacs] on 15 screens. In its second weekend, it has collected Aus. $12,788. The per screen average of the film is $853. Reports say the movie is faring well during weekends.

On the other end, Velayudham has collected Aus. $57,175 [approx. Rs 29.04 lacs]. It has grossed Aus. $5,041 on 6 screens in the second week and its per screen average for the show is Aus. $840. It is said that the less number of screens might be the reason behind the decent collections.

After churning out a father-daughter bonding film with Deiva Thirumagal, Vikram and AL Vijay are set for an action movie. The duo’s forthcoming movie, which was in the news for quite a few months, has finally got the title – Thaandavam.

After considering a few titles, the makers of the film seem to have zeroed in on Thaandavam. The movie is a remake of Hollywood flick The Bourne Identity. Vikram’s character named Shiva will be seen suffering from retrograde amnesia, who has lost his identity, in the forthcoming Tamil movie. In the original, Matt Damon had enacted the role, confirms a source.

Thaandavam will be shot in Los Angeles and Chennai. Reports say that Anushka Shetty will be seen as Vikram’s wife, whereas Amy Jackson as his girlfriend. Sasikumar raises his voice against Sri Lanka in support of 7am Arivu

Actor-director-producer Sasikumar has announced that he won’t be making any effort to release his upcoming film Poraali in Sri Lanka. The bearded film-maker has made this decision as a protest against the Lankan government’s arbitrary action in ‘deleting’ some dialogues in actor Suriya’s 7aam Arivu which was released in the Island Nation on the eve of Deepavali (26th October).

Sasikumar has condemned the Lankan government’s action in deleting the pro-Tamil dialogues in the film. In a recent interview, he has said “All of us who are born as Tamilians do have our pro-Tamil feelings. We don’t need to open our heart literally to show our feelings. Many a time, I had myself felt the agony and pain the Lankan Tamils have suffered for long at the hands of the Lankan army.

“Whatever is within my reach, I’d do it for the welfare of the Tamils….I don’t need to narrate in detail as to what I did or propose to do. I’m determined not to award the FMS rights to Lanka vis-à-vis my upcoming film Poraali. As a producer, this decision would no doubt hurt me financially…still, I don’t mind. I don’t want to earn money through my film in a land which inflicts trouble on our brethren….

“Those Tamils who are in Lanka are surely not in a mood to watch films…Lanka’s main source of income stems from films and the tourism industry….When we care for the welfare of our race in the Island, why should we attach significance to this FMS? Not only this film, I have decided not to give the FMS rights of any of my future projects to Sri Lanka.

“If Kollywood stands united, we can deal a telling economic blow to Lanka by not giving FMS rights of all our films. I feel it’s not wrong to sacrifice our economic interest for the welfare of our brethren,” said Sasikumar. Udhayanidhi Stalin, producer of 7aam Arivu, has welcomed Sasikumar’s stance saying that our ‘self-esteem’ is more important than any other factor.
