Asin is spreading rumors, says director
Director Rohit Shetty has come down heavily on Asin for spreading rumors. The director said that Asin is the lead girl in Bol Bachchan Bol, a film that he is directing and added that he has not finalized anyone for Chennai Express which he is to direct after Bol Bachchan Bol is wrapped up.
Rohit said that he was shocked to see an interview in which Asin had said that she is paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Chennai Express. He stated that it is very early to talk about the heroine as his sole concentration now is in Bol Bachchan Bol.
No theatres, no shooting - entire film industry on a standstill
All theatres across the country have shut shop today. The all-India strike was announced by the theatres owners following the Union Government’s decision to impose service tax on theatres. The theatre owners rue that they are reeling under heavy financial strain following a number of taxes imposed by the Union and State governments and this service tax would be an additional burden.
Apart from the theatres closing down today, all cinema activities including shootings, recordings etc., have also been cancelled.
Neerparavai First Look
Vishnu and Bindu Madhavi are roped to play the lead roles. The film has dialogues written by Jeyamohan of Naan Kadavul and Angadi Theru fame.
The major portion of the film will be shot around the regions of Kanyakumari. Lyrics are penned by Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu and editing by Kasi Viswanathan.

Maatran nearing completion
Surya starrer Maatran, directed by K V Anand is fast progressing despite the strike. The movie is being shot at quick pace in Hyderabad at Film City.Maatraan features Surya and Kajal Agarwal in the lead. Anand and Surya had earlier given a blockbuster in Ayan.
Touted to be one Surya’s biggest releases, Maatraan is produced by AGS Entertainment.While the entire K’wood industry has come to a standstill due to a tiff between the employees union and the Tamil Film Producers Council, the fact that Maatraan shooting has still been going on in Hyderabad has raised many eyebrows.
Anjali can’t wait to shoot

Priyamani’s debut Bollyoood film in Mani Ratnam’s Ravan, the Hindi version of Raavanan, did not give desired results in Hindi film industry. In fact, her second attempt with Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Chatria also failed to come to fruition. However, the actress is now ready to test her luck again in the B-town.
The glamorous beauty has signed a Bollywood film starring Riteish Deshmukh, the husband of Genelia D’Souza. After doing miniature roles in her her two B-town projects, the actress, for the first time, is playing a full-length female lead character. The movie directed by Chandrakanth Singh will be taking off in the coming days. Other details about the film are under wraps.

Vijayakanth son’s film to be announced
We reported recently that Captain Vijayakanth’s son will take to acting soon. The wait seems to be over now. Sources now reveal that Vijayakanth has finalised a script to feature his second son Shanmuga Pandian as hero.
Shanmuga Pandian is doing Visual Communications in Loyola College. Vijayakanth readily agreed when his son said that he wants to act. While one film will be produced by Vijayakanth himself, he has reportedly allowed his son to do a film for another producer.

Most of the crew members of the movie ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ are again working together, for this project.

As soon as the Director asked to shed some weight, Vikram has reduced few kilos of weight. ‘Thaandavam’ is basically about a man who wants to teach some lessons to those who cheat him and the society. ‘Thaandavam’ is getting ready in a quick place. There are plans to finish this movie by this March and release it during the summer of 2012.

Aishwarya Dhanush is not happy with the different versions of the Kolaveri di song doing rounds. Given the immense popularity of the song, Aishwarya has decided to stop people from trying to cash in the song’s success by creating their own versions.
She has copyrighted this song and if anyone in future is found using the Kolaveri song then Aishwarya can instigate legal action. It may be mentioned here that the Koalveri di song has the distinction of having the most number of versions so far.
The song will feature in the film 3, which has Dhanush and Shruti Haasan playing the lead roles. Anirudh has scored the music for this song.
Nayanthara in Billa 2
As we all know that Billa 2 is a prequel to Billa that released in 2007, it makes us wonder if there would be some continuation from it. The director of Billa 2, Chakri Toleti, had also thought about it and when the project was started he had requested Nayantara to play a cameo in the film as she was the heroine in Billa.

One more eligible bachelor of Tamil cinema is set to lose the single status. We are referring to Shakthi, son of veteran director P Vasu, and the one who had acted in films such as 'Thottal Poo Malarum', 'Ninaithale Inikkum' and 'Mahesh Saranya Mattrum Palar'.
His wedding with Smrithi, with whom he was engaged in June this year, is to take place on 31 October 2011, at Mayor Ramanathan Hall in Chennai. "Vasu is busy doing arrangements for his son's marriage, which is expected to draw the who-is-who of south Indian cinema," sources say.
Smriti, who is the daughter of a Chennai-based industrialist, and Shakthi had been seeing one another for the past two years, it is said. "Since Smriti's family is close to Vasu's, elders decided to unite Shakthi and Smriti in wedlock," sources further say.
At present, Shakthi is acting in three films -'Aedho Seidhai Ennai', 'Kalla Sirippazhaga' and 'Vanjikottai Vaaliban'. He expects all the above ventures would work big time in the box office and would put him in the top league of stars.
No actress can do what Neetu Chandra has done
Director Ameer has said that he has shot scenes involving Neetu Chandra and her portions are over. All that remains now are a few scenes that Jayam Ravi has to work on and the shooting will recommence only after the FEFSI strike.
Ameer says that Neetu’s role in Aadhi Bhagwan is a very crucial one. He added that none of the actresses, even in Bollywood, have portrayed such a role. The director was also full of praises for the actress for doing a wonderful job.
Simbu in the Shruti and Dhanush angle!
It's known that the proximity between Shruti Hassan and Dhanush have set a few tongues wagging. Kollywood media, in its entirety, speculated about their brewing friendship that is seemingly graduating itself into another form. Their sighting in public places are meticulously scrutinised and reported. This issue reached its pinnacle when a weekly tabloid did a complete cover story on their budding relationship.
It was reported that the couple's proximity has irked superstar Rajinikanth, with whose elder daughter Aishwarya, Dhanush is married to. The tabloid quoted sources saying that Rajinikath called on Kasthuri Raja, Dhanush's dad, and reported on the issue asking him to talk to Dhanush about it. After this cover story was out, it was speculated that Shruti went ballistic reading it and was considering suing the magazine.
However, Shruti wrote a detailed letter to the magazine blaming them for writing unverified news and tarnishing her image. The magazine, in turn, turned apologetic and issued a public apology for publishing the story. Shruti posted it on twitter and Dhanush re-tweeted the same. Now you might think this is the end of the story. Hardly so. It looks like it's going to be the beginning of another one. SN Lakshmi passes away
She used to play mother,mother-in-law and grandmother roles in countless Tamil films.
As Urvasi’s mother in Michael Madana Kama Rajan (MMKR) she was brilliant. Who can forget her as Kamal’s mother-in-law in Mahanadi or the old woman in Thevar Magan?
Lakshmi has done close to 1000 films in a career that started in 1948 where she played dancer in Chandralekha.
And in the last 10 years Lakshmi has done many serials where she plays the “good hearted Paati”.
