Suriya not to speak Hindi

Suriya, who is making his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Raktha Charithra’, has suggested the director to opt for a professional dubbing artiste to dub for the character played by him.

“Because, the role I play in ‘Raktha Charithra’ should be real. Audiences should get convinced with my character. Hence I wanted a dubbing artiste to do the job to maintain the nativity”, he says.

Saying that he was scared of speaking in Hindi right from school days, the actor adds: “I don’t know why. But it was always tough for me to learn Hindi, though I married a Punjabi girl and the language is often spoken at my home”.

On the film, he says, “RGV has shaped it up in a very interesting way. It is a realistic film with a raw touch”. It may be recalled that the actor roped in a Hindi tutor to get his act right on the sets of ‘Raktha Charithra’.

Why is Aamir Khan eager to watch Endhiran?

Aamir Khan had said that he is eager to watch Endhiran, produced by Sun Network’s Kalanidhi Maran and directed by Shankar. The actor pointed out that he grew up watching Rajinikanth-starrers mainly because of the actor’s style. Aamir added that is keen to take a peek on Endhiran to know what style Rajini had done for the Robot role.

For the first time, Rajini has paired up with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Endhiran and this has also caused a lot of expectations. The film’s music has been scored by Oscar winner AR Rahman.

Surya to replace Ajith in Gautham’s film!

Long before there was a strong buzz in the kollywood that ace director Gautham Menon and top actor Ajith will be joining hands for a new project which is tentatively titled as ‘Thuppariyum Anand’. Some days before it was come to known they both were departed due to some differences and also the project was not going to happened with Ajith.

Now the latest news is that the director Gautham is going to make this project with his favourite star Surya in the lead. It is also heard that he has roped in ‘Madrasapattinam’ fame British Model Amy Jackson as female lead opposite Surya.

Sources say “Gautham likes to work with Surya very much and he feels that the actor would suit to any kind of role. Hence his next choice for the project, which is a thriller, would obviously be Surya.”
They adds further “The film is set in pre-Independence era. It is about a detective who zeroes in on culprits involved in sensitive cases in his own style.”

Endhiran fever attacks cricketer

If we are kept guessing about the release date of the Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai starrer Endhiran, there is an ardent fan of the superstar who is having sleepless nights. We are talking about the wily Sri Lankan off-spinner Muthiah Muralitharan. It is known that he is a huge fan of Rajini and is eagerly waiting for the release of Endhiran. Murali is in town to practice with Chennai Super Kings who are due to play in the Champions League T20 tournament in South Africa.

The Champions league starts on September 10 and ends on September 26, 2010. Now, with recent news suggesting that Endhiran may be released on October 8, Murali will be relieved that he can concentrate on cricket for a while. We hope he comes back in time to watch the movie First Day First Show.

Vijay fans angry over TV Channel

While fans of actor Vijay are eagerly awaiting the release of his next movie Kaavalan, comments about the actor on a private television channel has caused distress amongst them. Comments about Vijay on Sunday’s (29 August) episode of Neeya Naana, a discussion forum, aired on Vijay TV is the reason for this, sources inform. Angry Vijay supporters have been expressing their ire through blogs and mails to Vijay TV office in Chennai.

Since Neeya Naana is a program where participants are free to express their views, the channel has not claimed any responsibility for this episode. Being a cool-headed person himself, we are sure actor Vijay will intervene and settle this issue in a peaceful manner.

Vikram, Vijay & Anil Kapoor with "24" fever

Don’t expect these names to appear together in the same film and it’s about the same name for two different shows. Obviously, Vikram Kumar of ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ fame had his project ’24’ proposed to actor Vikram, which didn’t take off at last moment. There are hums about Vikram Kumar working on same project with some changes suiting actor Vijay.

And there’s another ‘24’ that is creating more waves on global standards. The American TV series ’24’ happens to be No.1 TV show, which is wildly watched by major portion of World’s population (sparring Saas-Bahu viewers in India). The TV serial records the 24 hrs of federal agent Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland) produced by Fox Network and Syndicated Worldwide. The season 8 has Anil Kapoor enacting the role of President Omar Hassan belonging to a fictional Islamic Republic of Kamistan, who visits US for a peace conference with President of United States.

It’s worth mentioning that ’24’ haps to be highly sold and rented home video in Chennai and with the biggest expectations on this Season 8, the producers have decided to air the episodes in AXN Channel from Monday till Thursday at 11 p.m.

Meera Jasmine to marry soon?

Musician Mandolin Rajesh has said that his marriage with Meera Jasmine will not be delayed anymore and it was up to Meera to make that decision whether she wants to act or not post wedding.

Participating in a television programme along with his illustrious brother Mandolin Srinivas, Rajesh confirmed his relationship with the actress. “Our parents have supported Rajesh’s decision”, said Srinivas.

Though there were reports in the media that the actress and the musician have been going steady for quite some time, this is perhaps for the first time for Rajesh to comment on his relationship with Meera at a public forum.

It is said that the lovers would enter wedlock soon with the blessings of elders from both the families. “It is unlikely for Meera to act post marriage. However, she will make a decision soon”, sources say.

Donate eyes, says Vikram

Vikram has joined hands with Dr Agarwal’s, one of the leading eye hospitals in Chennai, to urge people to pledge their eyes, as the country “badly needs a large number of eye donors” to help the visually challenged.

Launching an eye donation campaign in Chennai Tuesday, the actor said, “Dr Agarwal’s hospital is doing a lot of good services. I am happy and proud to be associated with them in this noble cause.”

The actor, who had pledged his eyes two years ago and had asked his fans to follow the suit, added: “I realised the difficulties faced by the visually challenged while acting in Kasi. Let’s add light to their lives by donating eyes”.

Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, who too was present at the campaign, said he would soon make a short film on eye donation and would present it to the Dr Agarwal’s hospital so that they could create awareness on the crucial issue.

Thanking Vikram and Thanu, chairman and managing director of the hospital chain Dr Amar Agarwal said, “the top actor is not feeling well today. But still, he attended the event just because his commitment for a cause.”

Will Suriya oblige?

Cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan has revealed that director Rajesh, of Siva Manasula Sakthi fame, is ready with the script of an action flick. Rajesh is currently awaiting the release of the Arya-starrer Boss Engira Bhaskaran and is apparently finding it hard to convince a producer to take up the action film as he is has proved his mettle with comedy.

Sakthi Saravanan said that the action film will be suitable for Suriya and requested him to hear it out. Sources reveal that Suriya has agreed to lend his time to Rajesh and may sign the dotted lines if he is impressed.

Genelia’s secret marriage

Rumormongers in the tinsel town started spreading news that Genelia tied the knot with her long-time friend Ritiesh Deshmukh in a very private ceremony. The actress, who has taken all the gossips about her in her stride, is disturbed by this bit of news.

Genelia rues that soon after such baseless reports started flowing in, there was huge discord in her family and she had to explain that it was just baseless rumor.

The actress is known for her close relationship with Ritiesh but both have denied being in love.

Vedi will not explode for Diwali

Looks like Vikram’s forthcoming project Vedi has been shelved due to differences of opinion between him and director Boopathy Pandiyan. They have agreed to drop the project. Producer Mohan Natarajan has also agreed to drop the project and has now approached Madrasapattinam Vijay for the new project.
According to closed sources, Vedi that was supposed to have been released for Diwali has been shelved and will not see the light of the day for Diwali.

Sources also say that director Vijay has narrated a script to Vikram and he has given his consent to act in the film. Vikram has reportedly suggested Vijay to give final touches to the script.

Meanwhile, Boopathy Pandian has started his scripting work for his next project Pattathu Yanai. Actor Vishal will don the lead role in GK productions film.

Endhiran – Release date confusions!

Looks like the hullabaloo behind Endhiran’s release date will never die down. The movie was speculated to be released in the first week of September but still there are no signs of it. Fresh rumors quoting unconfirmed production sources mention that a new release date, October 8, has been finalized upon. Incidentally, the number eight is supposed to be Shankar’s lucky number.

There are also industry-talks that speculate the movie’s release date to collide with Diwali that falls on November 5. The movie, however, is ready for release and only a release date announcement from the producers will put an end to unverified speculations.

Ajith in Chandramuki - Part 2

It is well known that Rajini is one of the closest well wishers of Ajith. Even Ajith is very faithful to Rajini and takes his advice for all major decisions of his life. Now we hear that Thala has agreed to do a film on the advice of Super Star.

And the movie is also no less in reputation. Director Vasu had directed a Kannada movie 'Aaptharakshaka' which went on to become the biggest ever hit in Kannada cinema. 'Aaptharakshaka'was a sequel to 'Apthamithra' which was later remade in Tamil as Chandramukhi starring Super Star Rajnikanth.

P. Vasu was planning to remake the sequel film also in Tamil and looking for Rajnikanth to do it as well. Even the super star liked the movie after a special screening and news were abuzz saying Rajini has agreed to do the film. But it was some time ago and the Super Star got busy with Endhiran.

Now after a while the remake buzz is again afloat but with a twist. The news this time is that the Super Star has suggested Ajith to take up the film. Apparently Rajini has told Ajith that the film will fetch him a good name.

Ajith was expected to take up 'Billa-2'after 'Mangatha' but as things stand now he is likely to take up the P. Vasu film. We will keep you posted as and when things develop.

Thumbs down for A.R. Rahman..

Oscar and Grammy winner A.R. Rahman launched the theme song of the XIX Commonwealth Games in a glittering function held in Gurgaon attended by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the Organizing Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi among Others. Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto (Live, Rise, Ascend, and Win) was Rahman's call to the athletes. The song was praised by all as it was full of energy, vibrancy of youth and spirit of athletes.

But the song had a detractor in Mr. Vijaykumar Malhotra, who is the Executive board member of the Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Games. Mr. Malhotra disagreed with the popular opinion of others by claiming that “The song has fallen short of expectations. We had expected a better song from a composer of Rahman's status.” He added that “He has given some very good songs like 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' but this song is not that impressive. We hope that the song is made better because there is still time left for the start of the Games.”

The launch of the theme song has already been delayed as the GoM overseeing the Games had asked Rahman to change the song.

Rahman makes a new record

Creating records is not a new thing for A R Rahman. He did it once again on Saturday when the theme song composed by him for the Common Wealth Games was released at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi.

If one has to go by reports, within two hours of the song’s release, it was downloaded more than 7,000 times. As Rahman croons ‘Khelo, jeeyo, hey-o, let's go…’, the rousing chorus takes the song forward, thereby giving an emotional appeal.

On Saturday, the Oscar-Grammy winner sung the song for around five minutes in front of a gathering which included Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, her Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda and CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi.

“I feel honoured to get the opportunity to compose the theme song for the mega-event. It was not an easy task. I had started composing it six months ago and finished just last night,” the Mozart of Madras said.

A beaming Kalmadi hailed the launch of the theme song as a good beginning to the hosting of successful Games. “A well beginning is the half job done. Now onwards you will listen this song day in and day out,” he said.

‘Manmadhan Ambu’: 65% over

‘Manmadhan Ambu’, the Kamal Haasan-Madhavan-Trisha-Sangeetha starer, is no doubt one of the much awaited projects of Kollywood currently. We have an authentic update about the shooting status of the film.

“About 65 per cent of the movie was shot in the first schedule itself, which took place for more than a month on a star cruiser in Europe. After a break, we will be shooting for the second schedule,” says a source, who is a vital part of the film.

The source adds: “The unit is currently busy zeroing in on locations and getting permission to hold shooting. The process is expected to be over in another 20 days. We are looking forward to work together again.”

Directed by K S Ravikumar and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies, ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ is expected to be a romantic laugh riot. Story, screenplay and dialogues are by Kamal Haasan while music is by Devi Sri Prasad.

Veteran Vijayakumar 50 years in cinema

Today is a day to reckon for the veteran actor Vijayakumar who not only celebrates his 61st birthday but also completes 50 years in Tamil film industry. It’s an achievement by many standards and CPGrafix wishes the veteran all the very best even in the coming years.

Vijayakumar was born on this day in 1949. Right from his early days his passion was acting. His first role in films was as a child actor in 1961. Vijaykumar was the little Lord Murugan in ‘Sri Valli’ starring Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini. But not many offers were forthcoming for the little actor.

Later to develop himself as a complete actor Vijayakumar started acting in stage plays. He joined the celebrated Sahasranamam's Seva Stage to learn the fine tricks of acting. Muthuraman was also with the Seva Stage at that time. When Muthuraman became popular in films and left the troupe his roles were offered to Vijayakumar.

Then in 1973 Vijayakumar got his first bi break. After passing stringent tests he was selected to play one of the main roles in ‘Ponnuku Thanga Manasu’ directed by Devaraj-Mohan. The other hero in the film was Sivakumar. The success of ‘Ponnuku Thanga Manasu’ got him a permanent place in Tamil cinema.

Vijayakumar went on to become one of the highly successful stars. It is not an exaggeration if we say Vijayakumar ruled the seventies along with Jaishankar and Muthuraman. Films like Aval Oru Thodarkathai, Mathura Geetham, Azhage Unnai Arathikkiren boosted up his reputation. He even skifully managed to support the icons MGR and Sivaji. ‘Deepam’ with Sivaji and ‘Intrupol Entrum Vazhga’ are two of most memorable films by Vijayakumar.

In the beginning of eighties Vijayakumar wanted to retire from films after staying away from arc lights for some time. But how can one of the most versatile actors be allowed to go just like that? Maniratnam offered Vijayakumar one of his lifetime roles in ‘Agninatchathiram’ and the second innings of Vijayakumar gathered momentum and still going strong.

‘Andhi Mantharai’ directed by Bharathi Raja was one film which took him almost close to winning the national award for best actor. He missed it by one vote. He keeps getting strong characters like that he played in Kizhakku Vasal and Kizhakku Cheemayile even today.

In his 50 years long career there is no role Vijayakumar has not played to excellence. There is no legendary director who has not directed him. Be it a lover boy, adoring brother, devoted husband, menacing villain, funny bean, doting father, imposing village chieftain, upright police officer he has played all to perfection. From MGR, Sivaji to Rajini, Kamal to Rajini, Kamal to Karthik, Prabhu to Vijayakanth, Sarathkumar to the present young actors, Vijayakumar has royally marched along with all of them.

Still, the veteran in all humility says “I don’t think I have achieved anything in life. Acting is life and I know only that”. With a happy family consisting of wives Muthukannu and Manjula, daughters Kavitha, Anitha, Preetha, Sridevi and Vanitha and son Arun Vijay, Vijayakumar is a contented man. His achievements are unique and have a few pages of Tamil film history dedicated to him.

CPGrafix again congratulates him on his completion of 50 eventful years in Tamil cinema and wish him all the best on his birthday.

Prabhu Deva and the English connection

Harris, who is scoring for the film Ich, has tweeted that he's recorded a full fledged English track for the film. The song is sung by Emce Jayze, Kriss and Renaina according to his tweet. He also said that he hoped the song works for the movie. So far, full fledged English songs used to be part of movies that had white actors in it. Ich, however, does not seem to have any firang actors, not in the lead at least.

Ich, directed by Prabhu Deva, has Jayam Ravi and Hansika in the lead roles. Prabhu Deva has been working with Harris Jayaraj for the composition of songs.

Rajinikanth’s Robot trailer is a hit!

Sun Pictures are yet to premiere the trailer or any songs of their Rajinikanth- Aishwarya Rai, Shankar directed extravaganza Enthiran on Sun Network channels.

But the Hindi dubbed version of the film Robot’s 2 minute trailers are being shown at regular intervals on all Hindi channels. Music channels like MTV, B4U, ETC and others have made the trailer very popular.
The song being played from Robot on the channels as trailer promo is Naina Miley sung by AR Rahman, Suzanne and Kash N Krissy. The original in Tamil is the popular Puthiya Manidha sung by SPB, Rahman and his daughter Khatija.

Superstars Big Tickets From September!

The first season of 2010 might not have been so promising for the film buffs, but you can expect a heavy downpour of big tickets from Superstars for the next half yearly period.

Enthiran: Rajnikanth’s magnum opus ‘Enthiran’ was supposedly reported to hit screens on September 3. Though it was an unconfirmed buzz, Sun Pictures COO Hansraj Saxena reafirms about releasing the film by first or second week of September. The film’s musical mania has exceeded everyone’s expectations and for the next coming days, it’s gonna be ‘Endhiran’ alone.

Manmadhan Ambu: Kamal Haasan’s yet another comedy entertainer with K.S. Ravikumar. The duo’s combination in ‘Avvai Shanmughi’, ‘Thenali’, ‘Pancha Thanthiram’ and ‘Dasavatharam’ have revealed of great success. The additional goldrush in film’s veins will be the presence of Madhavan and Trisha. The film is scheduled for Diwali as Udhayanidhi Stalin plans to do so.

Kaval Kadhal: Beginning of Vijay’s new era. Is it worth ennobling Ilayathalapathy’s next release ‘Kaval Kadhal’ with such terms? A right one indeed! Neither gushing punch dialogues nor the timeworn ingredients of his yesteryear films will be prevalent here. So, what you have got to expect is all about fun, romance and emotions. Kaval Kadhal is also being planned to get released for Diwali.

Rattha Charithram: Suriya’s first multilingual film has a big way for him. Ever heard about a welcome before an arrival? Precisely, Suriya owns this fortune as even the celebrities of Hindi and Telugu film industry have become his ardent fans after watching the teasers. The film’s release has been postponed to October now.
Utthamaputhiran: Family entertainers have always found a right place in box office. On the button, Dhanush-Genelia D’ Souza starrer ‘Utthamaputhiran’ will be a sure-footed family entertainer as the Telugu version ‘Ready’ has been a successful forerunner. With star-casts’ number running to monstrous figures, the film is expected to have right mix of comedy, romance, family and more elements.

With so many films slated for the releases, the exhibitors and distributors are so confident that the next season will yield them best results.

Nayanthara to say goodbye to acting!

It seems to Nayanthara is going to say goodbye to Cinema. The actress has completed all her current assignments and moved on. It seems like that Rajesh directed ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ will be her last film in Tamil. Nayanthara has Shyama Prasad’s ‘Arthouse Electra’ in Malayalam and ‘Upendra’ in Kannada to release.

The actress has been refused some of the biggest projects. And even the actress says no to act with Salman Khan’s heroine in the Hindi remake of her Malayalam film ‘Bodygurad’.
Nayanthara has given up her career as her priority is to marry Prabhu Deva. Currently the actress is learning cooking.
