STR can become like MGR: TR

A couple of days ago, newspaper advertisements marking the 75th day of 'Vaanam', which likened the films protagonist STR aka Silambarasan to former Chief Minister and matinee idol MGR, raised many an eyebrow.

The actor's father Vijaya T Rajendar, who claims that he had actually designed the advertisement, says, "There is nothing wrong in yearning to achieve big. I had a dream for Simbu. And he is marching towards it."

"In the particular advertisement, I had mentioned that Simbu is now emerging as a star like how MGR was in those days. Silambarasan has got all qualities to reach that (MGR) place," says the multifaceted personality.

On his forthcoming film 'Oru Thalai Kadhal', he says, "It is a love story which will be a perfect treat to today's audience. I am on a crash diet to make myself fit to the role I am playing in the movie. I know the pulse of youth."

Rana will begin in October

Soon after his arrival, all Rajini fans are eager to know when Rana would take off. Sources close to Rajinikanth say that Rana will commence in October and until then the Superstar will take rest at his Kelambakkam farm house.

Only very close friends and dignitiaries will be allowed to meet Rajini as he needs complete rest for the next couple of months in order to get ready for Rana. It is said that he will hold discussions with director KS Ravi Kumar at this farm house.

Rana is a historic flick and a major portion of it will be shot in foreign countries.

Gautham Menon’s new hero is Vijay!

Vijay is all set to do a film with Gautham Menon, the maker of memorable movies like Kaakha Kaakha, Vaaranam Aayiram, and VTV. The star is currently busy with Nanban. Velayudham is also being readied for release. When he heard Gautham Menon’s script he was floored and immediately agreed to be a part of the project once he wraps up work on pending projects.

Gautham Menon felt that the role was tailor – made for someone of Vijay’s talents and he was delighted when he accepted. The ace director will be going ahead with his next project with Jiiva which is slated to commence in August. And when that is done he will begin filming Vijay’s film.

Gautham has wanted to work with Vijay for the longest time but due to various reasons nothing materialized. But this time around everything worked out perfectly and it will be very exciting to see what this dynamic duo will be serving up for Tamil cinema fans.

RAJINI HAS ARRIVED!

Three cheers to all you Rajini fans out there! The Superstar has just arrived. He is hale and hearty and headed straight home from the airport. Fans who thronged the airport to catch a glimpse of their Superstar were not disappointed as some managed to see him and wave hands from a distance.

Rajini was accompanied by his daughters Aishwarya Dhanush and Soundarya Ashwin Kumar. Latha Rajinikanth, Dhanush and others close to the family were also at the airport to welcome the star.

KV Anand & Harris Jayaraj off to Rome!

Here is an update of Suriya’s Maatraan. Even before the commencement of the principle photography the film is popping up with some or the other updates.

The latest we hear is that director K V Anand and the film’s music director Harris Jayraj are in plans of boarding a Mediterranean Cruise, to compose songs for Maatran.

Maatran is an action packed romantic film which has Kajal Aggarwal playing the heroine’s role. The pre production works are completed and the film is going to start from July 22nd in Chennai. As there is time for the film’s launch K V Anand and Harris are taking off to Rome to compose tunes. They will board Mediterranean Cruise, during which they will compose tunes for the film.

Harris Jayaraj is one lucky music composer who gets to travel to several exotic places for compositions.

The combination of K V Anand-Harris is surely something that fans are enthusiastically looking forward to in the Suriya-starrer Maatran.

Chiyaan Vikram’s next??

No doubt, Chiyaan Vikram is one of the busiest actors in Kollywood. The actor is currently working on back to back schedules in Rajapattai and Karikalan and now we hear some interesting news about his future projects.

Vikram apart from being busy with his schedules he is also taking care of the promotion activities of his forthcoming film Deiva Thirumagal. Vikram who is looking for a perfect hit form the past couple of years is all excited about Deiva Thirumagal which is releasing this weekend. Once he completes his current projects Rajapattai and Karikalan, he will be doing a film with Vijay which is an action thriller.

Apart from this there is also big news in the store. Vikram is going to join director Bala for a film which is expected to start by this year end or by the beginning of 2012. It can be noted here that it was Bala is the person who gave a turning point to Vikram’s career with Sethu and Pithamagan. Currently, the duo is in talks about the project and an official announcement will be made soon regarding the film.

Vikram confirming this says “After Sethu and Pithamagan I am going to work with director Bala yet again and I feel extremely delighted to be a part of his film”.

Tamanna to face ban from Kollywood?

Director Seeman’s Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam along with several other organizations has called for a ban on Tamanna. In a recent interview the actress revealed that she is going to Srilanka for a Telugu film shoot by getting herself into trouble.

It is well known that there have been several protests by the Tamil film industry against the violence committed by the Sri Lankan government against the Tamils. The Tamil Film Industry passed a resolution not to go to Sri Lanka for any film shoot. It was also decided that whoever visits Srilanka in their professional capacity will be banned from the industry. As Tamanna herself has disclosed that she is going to shoot in Srilanka there is a call on the film industry not sign her in any film from now and even they decided to remove her latest release Venghai from the theatres.

Earlier, Asin faced condemnation for shooting in Srilanka with Salman Khan for Ready.

Good news for Superstar fans

There is great news for all the fans out there who have been worrying themselves sick about Rajini’s health. The Superstar will be back in Chennai on the 13th of this month. That is the day after tomorrow! He will be on Singapore Airlines and will reach Chennai by 10.45 pm. His family including daughter Aishwariya Dhanush will be returning with him.

All the prayers of the fans have worked it seems, for the doctors have given him a clean bill of health and said that he is fully recovered from his ailment. It is safe for him to return home. It is also expected that he will be back on the sets of Rana by September if not sooner.

Suriya’s 7am Arivu shoot completed

The shoot of Suriya’s forthcoming sci-fi thriller 7am Arivu directed by AR Murugadoss has been completed.

Currently the post production works of the film are going on a full swing. This has been confirmed by producer of the film Udhayanidhi Stalin. 7am Arivu stars Suriya in a triple role as circus artist, Buddhist monk and a scientist while Shruti Haasan played the female lead. Vietnamese actor Johnny Tri Nguyen played the antagonist in the film. Suriya trained for a six pack chiseled torso for a Kung Fu action sequence within 16 days as requested by cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran.

The story of 7am Arivu will revolve around a super machine, which is brought to India. The film will be dubbed into Hindi and Telugu as Suriya and Murugadoss has well spread market in both the languages.

The album, composed by Harris Jayaraj, consists of six songs including a Chinese track, sung by Chinese singer Hau. Music of the film is expected to be out in stores mostly in the month of August.

Udhayanidhi tweeted: “7 am Arivu shooting over! Thanks to Murugadoss sir, Suriya, Ravichandran sir and the whole crew! ”
