Indian film Superstar Rajinikanth is turning heads wherever he goes in Malaysia.
The South Indian actor, who has a cult-like following, is in the country to film his movie, Kabali, expected to be released in April next year.
Since his arrival in Malaysia, social media has been abuzz with news, pictures, videos and memes of him, highlighting the mass crowds that follow and greet him everywhere.
The actor often responds with humility by by putting his palms together towards his chest in the traditional Indian way of greeting.
In one video, Rajinikanth gestures to his security personnel to not block or reprimand fans who tried to meet him or trying to get a glimpse of him.
In another video uploaded on Facebook, Rajinikanth was seen managing rowdy fans, simply by gesturing to them if they crossed the line and got too close to him or pushed others.
An ardent fan, Doreen Raj Stephen, was lucky enough to meet the superstar along with her husband when they stayed in the same hotel in Malacca.
She said they had booked a suite in Ramada hotel and met the actor in the lounge when he came out of his room.
“Me and my husband we were so happy and extremely excited. It was an incredible feeling,” she told The Rakyat Post.
She said Rajinikanth was extremely down to earth.
“We had a short conversation with him despite knowing many people were waiting to meet him.
“It was a dream come true and we feel totally blessed to have been given a chance to meet, speak and be beside him.”
